Food | Kimi-Ya Japanese Cuisine @ Old Klang Road

February 08, 2018

Hi everyone!
If you're a fan of Japanese foods and also looking for a relaxing & fine dining area to have lunch or dinner with family and friends, Kimi-Ya is going to be your great option.

Kimi- Ya is a mid high-end Japanese cuisine restaurant which operated for almost two years at Avantas Residences, Old Klang Road. They offer diners a premium quality of Japanese dishes but at an affordable price. You can easily spot them from beside the road, just that you might miss the U Turn if you drive too fast.

I personally love the interior of Kimi-Ya restaurant as it makes the diners feel warm and comfortable, yet elegant at the same time.

You can notice most of their tables, chairs, and even decorations are mostly using wooden element.

Soft Shell Crab Salad
Here comes our appetizer, a Japanese salad served with fried soft shell crab & some crispy fish skin on top. You can choose your preference dressing such as sesame, Wafu(vinaigrette-type) & Yuzu dressing. I highly recommend to try out their self-made Yuzu dressing as it gives a tangy flavour to the salad and enhances the taste.

Sashimi Mori Ume
It is impossible not to have any sashimi while dining in Japanese restaurant right?
This sashimi platter comes with 7 types of fresh delicacies that imported from Japan such as Salmon, Tako, Ebi, Tuna, Yellowtail, Squid and Tuna Belly. You can enjoy different types of sashimi in one plate with inexpensive price.

It makes us mouth watering by just looking at it.
These fresh sashimi taste best by dipping with Kimi-Ya own made wasabi and soyu sauce.

Maguro Don
It is actually a bowl of rice topped with raw Tuna, few types of seaweed and some wasabi.

You can clearly see each slide of tuna is super thick & I'm pretty sure it will satisfy sashimi cravers' tummy! Even though I'm not a fan of sashimi don but it is quite enjoyable for me.

Japan Ayu Shioyaki
It is common to find a grilled sweet Japanese fish with salt in every Japanese restaurant menu. The meat has a mildly sweet flavour inside and delicate crunchy taste outside.
Chef Khim has taught us how to remove the bone by using a chopstick, he suggest us to do when it was still hot so it can be easily removed.

Here come our sushi, nom nom!

Avocado Ebi Mentai Roll
One of a must order, Sushi Roll with Shrimp and Avocado, it will melt in your mouth!

Unagi Cheese Roll
The combination of Unagi(Japanese eel) and cheese were interesting and it unexpectedly super matches with teriyaki sauce.

Ribeye Shabu Shabu
If you wish to have something hot, then you should order this shabu shabu to warm you up especially during the raining day.

This Japanese hotpot served with thin slides Australian Wagyu, Udon and with some assortment of vegetables and tofu. This hotpot is suitable for 2-3 person hence you won't feel overfull and able to try other dishes at the same time.

Ankimo
Kimi-Ya has different promotion dishes on seasonal items for every month. This February 2018, Akimo is Kimi-Ya monthly special dish, which is also known as Monkfish liver. It is my first time to try out Akimo and it has made me curious about the taste. Based on what I found on Google, it used to be in one of the World's 50 most delicious foods list compiled by CNN.
To my surprise, it tasted quite creamy, velvety and rich at the same time. It is something unique to try if you're the first timer.

*This dish is only available from 1 February - 28 February 2018*

Zaru Somen
I'm a big fan of cold noodles however it is not easy for me to find a nice Japanese cold noodle in town. This zaru somen so far is in my favorite food list! It is up to you whether you want to have this wheat noodles by dipping with their special dipping sauce or add the raw quail egg, wasabi and spring onion accordingly to experience more creamier taste.

A5 Wagyu (120 grams)
I rarely have beef as I was afraid of the gamy taste. However, this sizzling sliced wagyu beef steak has amazed me. The meat is so juicy and succulent, most importantly, no gamy taste at all!

The reason why Kimi-Ya only selected A5 grade of wagyu, which was the greatest Japanese beef as its particularly good balance of fat, smooth texture, and juicy flavor spreads out in the mouth. Aside from wagyu steak have served with some grilled fresh garlic and veggies to pinch and have together with wagyu.

It always has room for desserts although we had so much dishes lol.
We have tried out three types of scoop ice cream, Matcha Shiratama Zenzai, Goma Ice Cream and Yuzu Sobet.

Goma Ice Cream
This Japanese black sesame ice cream has richness and gritter taste, and it is recommended for some people who prefer a pleasant bitterness & rich taste in desserts.

Matcha Shiratama Zenzai
Matcha lover must try dessert!
Matcha scoop ice cream is always the best to have together with Shiratama and red bean.

Mizu Shinge Mochi
I always saw it on Instagram and guess what, it finally was infront of me lol.
It is known as raindrop cake (like transparent jelly) served with brown sugar syrup and bean powder. It looks super cute and bouncy and for the taste, it reminds me of agar-agar.

Overall I have a great experience to enjoy my meal at Kimi-Ya, I can't wait to bring my family to visit again! If you wish to try out Kimi-Ya with your family and friends and want to make reservation for private room (for 10-12 persons), you can check out the information below.
